Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Wayne N. Walters and District leadership presented an updated Feasibility Report featuring revised recommendations that lay the foundation for a future-ready facilities plan centered on student learning. The Board will be asked to consider opening the public commentary period on the proposed school closures in June 2025.

“This is not just a facilities plan,” said Dr. Walters. “It is a generational opportunity to do what is right—and what is necessary—for the children of Pittsburgh. We have schools that are underutilized, facilities that are aging and inequitable, and a structure that no longer serves the academic, emotional, or social needs of our students. And we have an obligation to act,”.
